Dedication

When I was in fourth grade I had a teacher who challenged me to read more and write down my thoughts, feelings, and observations. It was the first time an adult took an interest in me and the fact that I had this mental process that absolutely NEEDED to be fed. I found nourishment in books and the blank pages of spiral notebooks I have scribbled in through the years.  My "dietician" was a young nun named was Sister Cheryl. She had energy and enthusiasm and a mean jump shot. It was in her classroom and on the basketball court after school that my lifelong love of reading and journaling was born.  I promised her that someday I would write a book and I would dedicate it to her. I hope someday I will flip open the cover of the first edition of my soon-to-be bestseller and see the her name on dedication page. Until then, this will have to do. Some of what I write about may not always be content that you would think a nun would approve of. But since she told me I had had enough Little House on the Prairie and put The Hobbit and A Day No Pigs WOuld Die in my hands, I don't think it would be inappropriate to write about whatever the hell I want. Not everything that provokes thought is pretty and dreamy, but there's always something to be gained from the experience.

As for the second dedication to launch this blog, I have to say thanks to my best friend Lisa Amberg Porter.   We've known each other for 32 years now, and we've faced it all together. She has been the one person in my life that knows me better than I know myself. She has a BFF ESP that senses when I need a good dose of reality and  spirit boosting and is always there with a phone call before I even knew I needed it. She calls me on my bullshit when I am in denial and trying to hide the truth from myself. And she never lets me forget the goodness and strength I have inside. She is also my biggest cheerleader when it comes to writing. Have been the recipient of the notes I passed and the multiple pages I took up signing her yearbook, she's always known I was born to write and will not let me escape this life without doing something about it. So, as promised, here it is: THE BLOG!!!!
